Skin Care Routine: what it is, what it's for, and the right beauty ritual for you

379 Views

Skin Care is one of the fundamental components of the Beauty Routine, one of the secrets of the daily beauty ritual.

Literally, “Skin Care” simply means “skin care”, but it encompasses a wide range of best practices, steps, products, and specific advice, which differ based on gender, age, and skin type.

Let's analyze in detail everything there is to know to become true Skin Care experts and have fabulous skin every day!

What is Skin Care and what is it for?

The term “Skin Care” identifies a series of practices aimed at taking care of one's body, health, and beauty, specifically focusing on the skin of both the face and body, through daily rituals and the application of specific products.

A Skin Care routine can include various types of products depending on the need, including:

  • cleanser;
  • mousse;
  • body cream;
  • face cream;
  • day cream;
  • night cream;
  • serum;
  • booster;
  • face mask;
  • lotion;
  • perfector;
  • eye contour cream;
  • anti-aging cream;
  • anti-wrinkle cream;
  • peeling;
  • scrub;
  • toner;
  • oil;
  • micellar water;
  • anti-imperfection patches;
  • specific products for acne;
  • sunscreen;
  • glow drops;
  • facial massages, self-massages, and facial gymnastics.

Skin Care serves to rebalance the skin's state of well-being and/or maintain it in good health, improving its appearance and preventing or resolving potential skin problems.

The Skin Care routine also aims — among other things — to prevent, treat, or limit the signs of skin aging through cleansing, purification, and the integration of specific active ingredients.

Skin Care test: for every skin type

One of the fundamental parameters for identifying the right types of products and the most suitable steps is to ask yourself:

"What is my skin type?"

Everyone is obviously their own best expert, but to label your skin type, it can be useful to answer a few simple questions, including:

  1. Is your skin uniformly shiny?

    It could be oily skin.

  2. Does your skin feel tight or do you see small cracks forming?

    Most likely you have dry skin.

  3. Is your skin shiny only in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin)?

    It could be combination skin.

  4. Is your skin uniform, not excessively shiny, sufficiently hydrated, and smooth?

    Then everything is normal!

P.S. Before answering the questions, wash your face with a gentle cleanser, dry it, and wait half an hour to allow the skin to normalize.

Other parameters should also be considered in the search for the perfect Skin Care, such as whether you have sensitive skin or skin with imperfections.

Despite the subjectivity of the choice, let's look at some concrete examples…

Skin Care for oily skin

Caring for oily skin requires particular attention aimed at curbing excessive sebum production and preventing the onset of imperfections.

Therefore, in this case, the purification of oily skin plays a crucial role through cleansing, washing, and skin exfoliation.

Naturally, targeted treatments for acne, pimples, enlarged pores, and face masks are indispensable, but never forget the application of a toner, hydration, and sun protection!

Skin Care for dry skin

In the case of dry and flaky skin, it is necessary to focus primarily on hydration through the integration of lipids or oils.

Skin dehydration does not only have aesthetic consequences, but it can also cause itching and — in extreme cases — pain.

Generally, dry skin is also particularly sensitive to environmental influences, such as biting cold, sun, or wind, from which it is always wise to protect oneself adequately.

For a good Skin Care routine for dry skin, however, it is not enough to consistently use cleansers and moisturizing creams (face and body) in day and night versions; you must also keep in mind to:

  • avoid aggressive cleansers;
  • hydrate, hydrate, hydrate…
  • drink at least 2L of water per day;
  • use sunscreen all year round;
  • add a hydrating serum to your daily Skin Care;
  • harness the humectant power of hyaluronic acid.

Skin Care for combination skin

“Combination” skin tends to present multiple skin types simultaneously: for example, skin that is generally drier around the cheeks and chin and instead oilier and prone to imperfections on the forehead and nose.

Combination skin can therefore be more complex to manage; a correct Skin Care routine must include localized actions according to the areas and different skin types present, creating the right mix between Skin Care for dry and oily skin.

Skin Care for normal skin

Skin Care for normal skin, without evident problems, is obviously much simpler; in this case, it has a mostly conservative purpose, which should absolutely not be underestimated, especially as the years go by.

The Skin Care routine for normal skin includes all the “basics,” namely cleansing, purification, hydration, protection, and prevention, for which the keyword is — as always — : consistency!

Skin Care for skin with imperfections

In the case of skin prone to developing impurities, there are 2 most important phases:

  1. The deep cleansing and purification phase of the skin, while always avoiding squeezing any blackheads or pimples to prevent scarring.
  2. Hydration.

Skin Care for sensitive skin

Sensitive skin requires — in addition to what has been said so far — extra attention!

Delicate skin always prefers hypoallergenic cosmetics, which are as gentle as possible, without added fragrances, without alcohol, and with high UV protection (SPF).

Skin Care based on age

Age also obviously affects the appearance of the skin, its health, and therefore the needs that daily Skin Care must satisfy.

Especially for women, but not exclusively, hormonal variations clearly mark two important phases of life: menopause and puberty.

Skin Care for young skin with acne

Caring for young skin, which is still very elastic and fresh but often subject to acne particularly during puberty, requires a gentle but effective approach to manage excess sebum, imperfections, and prevent further breakouts.

Similar to Skin Care for oily or imperfect skin, deep purification and cleansing are necessary before hydrating.

Skin Care for mature skin with wrinkles

Caring for mature skin with wrinkles requires products and techniques that promote hydration, cell regeneration, and collagen production to keep the skin elastic and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

The choice of rich creams based on hyaluronic acid, serums, boosters, and specific anti-aging products is therefore fundamental in this case.

Skin Care Steps: the passages in the right order

Finally, in addition to skin type and age, it is important not only to perform all the steps of the Skin Care routine but also to follow them in the right order!

  1. Cleanser
  2. Toner
  3. Serum
  4. Eye contour cream
  5. Spot treatments (if any) (masks or specific treatments for impurities or imperfections, exfoliants, scrubs…)
  6. Day moisturizer
  7. Facial oil (optional)
  8. Night cream

Adding throughout the day: makeup remover, in case of makeup, and sunscreen.

Specifically, the Korean Skin Care routine is famous worldwide precisely for its dedication to sequentiality and consistency.

Face Skin Care

Although Skin Care includes skin care in itself and thus both the face and body, cosmetic products for face Skin Care are definitely the frontrunners.

The face products for The Unique Form Skin Care include:

  • Anti-Aging Face Mask / Purifying Face Mask
  • Biob0tox Eye Patches
  • Face Scrub
  • Cleansing Mousse
  • Anti-imperfection / Anti-aging / Vitamin C Boosters
  • Anti-aging / Moisturizing / Anti-imperfection face creams
  • Eye contour gel serum

Body Skin Care products

As for the care of the skin of the entire body, The Unique Form recommends:

Skin Care and Supplements

The skin represents the outermost layer of our body and is therefore an inexorably immediate mirror of our general state of health.

For this very reason, often the best solution is not (or at least not only) to intervene directly on the symptom (acne, oily skin, wrinkles, dehydration, and dry skin…), but to act deeply, from within, through appropriate supplements aimed at rebalancing the general health of our body for a more lasting result.

The The Unique Form supplements therefore include weight loss, fat-burning, anti-cellulite, draining, and detox products.

Skin care and nutrition

Based on what has been said so far, nutrition also affects the health and beauty of the skin!

Omega 3, for example, are unsaturated fats that contribute to making the skin hydrated, firm, and elastic, and can be consumed through diet, especially with extra virgin olive oil, oily fish, and dried fruit.

Equally important is Vitamin C, present in much seasonal fruit and vegetables, such as citrus fruits, kiwi, strawberries, green leafy vegetables, and peppers.

Furthermore, many foods boast significant antioxidant properties and promote the production of collagen and elastin.

Men's Skin Care

We conclude by specifying — in case it were necessary — that Skin Care is obviously not a beauty routine exclusive to women, but that men's Skin Care also exists, with respective cosmetics dedicated to men!
